It's official — our free running route planner app is now available on Google Play. After months of building, testing, and running with Runplanner ourselves, we're ready to share it with you.
TL;DR
Runplanner is a free, privacy-first running route planner for Android. Tap waypoints on a map to build road-snapped routes, then navigate them with turn-by-turn directions — no account required.
What is Runplanner?
Runplanner is a running route planner that does one thing really well: it turns a few taps on a map into a fully planned route. Tap waypoints, and the app snaps your route to real roads, footpaths, and trails using OpenStreetMap data. You see distance, estimated time, and pace instantly — and when you're ready, you can navigate the route with turn-by-turn directions.
No account. No sign-up. No ads. Just open the app and start planning.
What makes it different
- Tap-to-plan simplicity: Place waypoints by tapping the map. Routes snap to real roads and paths automatically using the Valhalla routing engine — no tracing required.
- Turn-by-turn navigation: Run your planned route with live guidance, street names, and off-route alerts that get you back on track.
- Roundtrip generator: Set a target distance and get a loop route that starts and ends at your location — great for exploring new areas.
- GPX export: Export routes to Garmin, Strava, Google Fit, or any platform that supports GPX files.
- Instant sharing: Share routes via QR code or link. Your friend scans it and the route loads in their app.
- Privacy first: Your data stays on your device with AES-256 encryption. No tracking, no data collection, no ads.
Built by runners
We built Runplanner because the route planners we used felt overly complicated or locked behind subscriptions. We wanted something fast, private, and focused on the core experience: plan a route, run it, done.
The app also includes weather forecasts and elevation profiles so you know what to expect before you head out, and workout plans for structured interval training directly on your route.
What's next
This is just the beginning. We're working on iOS support, Strava sync, improved surface detection, and more features based on runner feedback. We'll share updates here on the blog as they ship.
