Add, move and delete waypoints

iPhone + Android

A route in Runplanner is a line through your waypoints: the start, every point you tap, and the finish. You can add, move, insert and delete them at any time while you plan.

Add waypoints

  1. Tap the map to set your start.
  2. Tap again for each turn. The new point is added at the end of the route and the line follows paths and streets to reach it.

Each new point has to be within 50 km (in a straight line) of the previous one. A point further away shows Waypoint too far away.

Move a waypoint

Press and hold a waypoint until you feel a short buzz, then drag it to its new place and let go. The route on both sides is planned again.

On Android, hold still for about half a second before you drag; if you start moving straight away, the map pans instead. On a loop, the start and finish move together.

Insert a waypoint between two others

Small + handles sit halfway along each stretch of the route. Tap one to add a waypoint there, or hold and drag it to put the new point exactly where you want.

Delete a waypoint

  1. Tap the waypoint. It grows and a bar appears at the bottom.
  2. Tap Delete. The points on either side are joined up again.

The same bar has Route back here, which adds that point again as your new finish. It's the quickest way to close a loop back to your start.

Clear the whole route

Tap the bin button Clear in the bottom panel and confirm. This removes every waypoint and can't be undone, so save first if you want to keep the route.

A short tip pops up after your second point: long-press to move, tap to remove, tap a + to add. You only see it once.

Questions

Why can't I tap or move points?

Points are locked while you view a saved route, during navigation and while the route generator is waiting for you to tap a start. To change a saved route, open it and tap the pencil, Edit route.

Can I reverse a route or make it an out-and-back?

Not yet. To come back the way you went, tap your start point and choose Route back here; it plans the shortest way back, which isn't always the same path.
