Send a route to a friend so they can run it too. They get a link that opens straight in Runplanner, or they scan a QR code from your screen.
Share a link
- Open the route and tap Share (or choose Share in the route's ⋮ menu on the Routes tab).
- Tap WhatsApp or Share link and pick who to send it to.
The message reads "Check out my route" with a link like runplannerapp.com/r/…. Short links work for 90 days.
What your friend sees
- With Runplanner installed: the link opens the app with a Preview of the route. They tap Import route and it's in their routes.
- Without the app: a web page with the route name and a button to get Runplanner from the App Store or Google Play.
Share with a QR code
Running together? Show the QR code on the share screen. Your friend opens Routes → + → Scan QR in their Runplanner app and points it at your screen. The route is added to their routes right away. Tap the code to make it bigger.
Use Runplanner's own Scan QR to read the code. The phone's normal camera app doesn't recognise it, because the code holds the route itself rather than a web link. That also means it works without internet.
Other ways to share
- Share as an image instead: a picture of the route with its distance, time and pace. See Share a route as an image.
- To your watch or another app: send the GPX file. See Export a route to your watch.
Questions
Does sharing upload my route?
A share link stores a copy of that one route on our server for 90 days so the short link works. Nothing else is uploaded, and there's no account linked to it.
