Route preferences

iPhone + AndroidComing with Pro

This is part of Runplanner Pro, which is coming soon. You can see it in the app already, but you can't unlock it yet. Join the waitlist to hear when it's ready. Everything that is free today stays free.

Route preferences let you tell the route generator what kind of run you want: road or trail, flat or hilly, quiet streets, no stairs and no traffic lights. They are part of Runplanner Pro.

What you can choose

Open the route generator (Generate a route on the Map tab) and tap Route preferences:

  • Terrain: Road, Mixed or Trail.
  • Hills: Flat, Any or Hilly.
  • Quiet streets: favour residential streets and footpaths over busy roads.
  • Avoid stairs: strongly avoid stairs and steps.
  • Avoid traffic lights: prefer routes where you don't have to cross at a traffic light. See Avoid traffic lights.

Reset puts everything back to Mixed and Any with the switches off. Done closes the sheet.

How they work

The preferences steer the loops and A to B routes the generator makes. They don't change routes you tap by hand. They can't create trails or hills where an area has none: if there are few unpaved paths nearby, you'll see Few unpaved paths found nearby, showing the best available route.

Until Pro is available, the row shows Part of Runplanner Pro and tapping it opens the Pro page.
