Runplanner works without an account. Open the app, tap the map a few times and you have a route that follows real paths, with its distance, time and pace.
When you open the app for the first time
A short welcome shows what the app does and asks for two permissions: location, so the map can show where you are, and notifications, for run reminders. You can skip either one and allow it later. Then pick your name, language, usual pace, theme and units (km or miles). You can change all of these later in Settings.
Plan your first route
- Open the Map tab and move the map to where you want to start. Tap the locate button on the right to jump to where you are.
- Tap the map once to set your start.
- Tap where the route should turn. The line follows paths and streets between your taps, so you only need a point at each junction.
- Read the distance, estimated time and pace in the panel at the bottom. Tap the pace to change it for this route only.
- Tap Save, give the route a name (up to 40 characters) and tap Save again.
After saving, a card offers Open route, Routes, Schedule this run and Share.
Don't want to tap points yourself? Tap the green sparkle button Generate a route in the empty panel and Runplanner draws a loop of the distance you choose. See Make a loop route of a set distance.
If you leave before saving
Runplanner keeps your unsaved route as a draft. Next time you open the app it asks Continue your last route? On Android, pressing back with unsaved points asks whether you want to leave first.
