Runplanner can guide you along a saved route while you run, with the next turn, the street name and the distance to go, also with the screen locked.
Start navigation
- Open the Routes tab and tap the route.
- Tap the green Start run button at the bottom.
- Check the distance and time in the Start dialog and tap Begin navigation.
You can also start from the map: open a saved route and tap Start in the panel.
If you're more than 75 metres from the route, the dialog says You are far from the route. Walk to the line first for the best directions.
While you run
- The card at the top shows the next turn, such as Turn left or Continue straight, the street name and how far it is. The turn on the map pulses as you get close.
- The panel at the bottom shows how much is left, with a progress bar.
- Pause stops the clock for a break; Resume picks it up again.
- Moved the map? It snaps back to you after 10 seconds, or tap the re-centre button.
- The screen stays on while you navigate.
Finish or stop
The run counts as finished when you're within 20 metres of the end. You see the distance, moving time (without pauses) and pace, with buttons to Share, Schedule again or Done.
To end early, press and hold the red Stop button for about a second. A short tap only reminds you to hold it.
With the screen locked
Navigation keeps going when you lock your phone or switch apps. On Android a Navigating notification stays in the status bar; on iPhone you see the blue location indicator, and the next turn shows on the lock screen. See Live Activity on iPhone.
If the app closes during a run, open it again within three hours. It asks Continue your run? and picks up where you were, with your time.
Questions
Does Runplanner record my run?
No. Runplanner guides you along a planned route but doesn't save a GPS track of your run. Use your watch or a running app to log it, and send the route there as a GPX file. See Export a route to your watch.
Does navigation speak the directions?
Spoken directions are coming with Runplanner Pro. See Spoken directions.
