The elevation profile shows where your route goes up and down, so a "flat 10K" really is flat.
See the profile
- Open the Routes tab and tap a route.
- Scroll to Elevation profile.
- Touch the chart to read the height at any point.
Below the chart you see Total climb, Total descent, Min elevation and Max elevation. Heights are in metres.
How accurate is it?
Runplanner measures the height every 25 metres along the route, using free terrain data (mostly from the SRTM satellite survey). Small bumps under 2 metres are smoothed out so the climb isn't inflated by noise in the map. Bridges and tunnels are filled in from both ends, so a route over a bridge doesn't seem to dive into the river.
Very long routes, above about 20 km, are measured a little less often, up to 800 points in total.
Seeing Elevation data not available? The height data couldn't be loaded, often because there was no connection. Tap Try again.
Questions
Can I see how steep each part is?
A steepness-coloured chart (green to red) and a time that accounts for the hills are coming with Runplanner Pro. See Hill-adjusted time.
