Off route and finding your way back

iPhone + Android

Took a wrong turn? Runplanner notices when you leave the route and points you back to it.

What happens when you go off route

When you're more than 20 metres from the route and moving further away, the top card changes to Off route with Return to route, the distance to the nearest point of the route and an arrow pointing to it. Once you're back on the line, the normal directions return.

Runplanner doesn't plan a new route around your detour. It always guides you back to the route you planned, so the distance you see stays honest.

Shortcuts and loops

The app follows your progress along the route. If you cut a corner and rejoin the route a bit later, it carries on from there. On loops that pass the same spot twice, it keeps to the part you're running now instead of jumping ahead.

GPS can drift a few metres near tall buildings or under trees. If you get Off route while you're on the right path, keep going; it clears once your position settles.

Questions

Will it tell me out loud that I'm off route?

With spoken directions, coming with Runplanner Pro, you hear a cue after about five seconds off route and another when you're back.
