Avoid traffic lights

iPhone + AndroidComing with Pro

This is part of Runplanner Pro, which is coming soon. You can see it in the app already, but you can't unlock it yet. Join the waitlist to hear when it's ready. Everything that is free today stays free.

Stopping at red lights breaks your rhythm. Runplanner knows where traffic lights are, and with Pro the route generator can look for a loop where you don't have to cross at one.

Turn it on

  1. On the Map tab, tap Generate a route.
  2. Tap Route preferences and switch on Avoid traffic lights.
  3. Tap Done, choose your starting point and let the app make your loop.

After the route is made, a note tells you how it went, for example No traffic lights to cross on this route or This route still crosses 2 traffic lights when there was no way around them.

Where the traffic light data comes from

Traffic light positions come from OpenStreetMap and cover the whole world. In cities, almost every light is mapped; in smaller places some may be missing. Saved routes list the number of Traffic signals on the route details screen.

Questions

Does this work when I tap a route by hand?

No. It only steers the route generator. When you tap a route yourself, you choose the streets.
